Anyone who knows jazz and classical and doesn't know The Swingle Singers ain't lived! Takes "do-be-do" and "scat" to an entirely new level. The complex rhythms and harmonies of the a capella choral group is serious business/5(46).

The master takes of this album were recorded while Olive Simpson was still a member of the group. In September , Helen Massey dubbed in her voice singing Simpson’s parts. Tracks marked with † reissued on CD as “The Swingle Singers Christmas Album” on Swingle 3 .

Groovy 16 track set that brings together tracks from a few of the harder to find mid 60s albums by this great jazzy vocal group. If you don't know them, the Swingle Singers were a tight little French combo who did vocalese versions of classical compositions. Their sound is instantly recognizable, and it became one of the trademarks for cheesy 60's French groovy music. The CD's a nice price way.

The "Baroque" LP was and the Mozart 28 minutes - making it incomprehensible and really unjustifiable that for the reissue Philips should have left out one track from the Baroque LP, the Allegro from Haendel's Concerto Grosso Op. 6 in A-flat, for a TT that, at 50 minutes, is relatively stingy, and would still have been if the track has /5(22).
