Sep 09,  · The songwriter transfigures personal tragedy into growling, elemental elegies. On his latest collaboration with the Bad Seeds, Nick Cave pulls us through the gorgeous, groaning terrors of “Anthrocene” and “Jesus Alone” only to deliver us, scarred but safe, to “I Need You” and “Skeleton Tree,” a pair of tender, mournful folk ballads.
  2. Yozshulkis says:
The songs on this album shimmer with tragic beauty--this is not the loud and angry Nick Cave of "Mercy Seat" or "Stagger Lee"; the Nick Cave on this album is wounded and hurting. The melodies and instrumentation are reminiscent of Cave's previous album, "Push the Sky Away," though the pieces in "Skeleton Tree" are more spare and emphasize the /5(26).
  3. Daijin says:
The cover of Skeleton Tree, the sixteenth studio album by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds is the most minimal and least revealing artwork of their career. Against a black backdrop in computerized font, the title of the record glares menacingly like the stuck screen of a heart rate monitor.
  4. Dourg says:
In the canon of Bad Seeds albums Skeleton Tree is immensely difficult to pin down. With my Cave fandom hat on I cannot help but feel this is a noticeably inferior record to its immediate predecessor, and one that is less powerful on early listens than the likes of Tender Prey, The Boatman’s Call or the chronically underrated No More Shall We.

Skeleton Tree began it's journey in late at Retreat Studios, Brighton, with further sessions at La Frette Studios, France in autumn The album was mixed at AIR Studios, London in early Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds were formed in Melbourne in by lead singer Nick Cave, multi-instrumentalist Mick Harvey and guitarist Blixa Bargeld/5().

  7. Mezilar says:
Nick Cave is an artist who has never shied away from exploring the darker side of the human experience, often in broadly gothic strokes on his early albums but with a growing degree of nuance and compassion as Cave and his work matured. But a very real and deeply painful tragedy was visited on Cave while he was working on his 16th solo album, Skeleton Tree.

Produced By Nick Cave & Warren Ellis [Verse 1] All the fine winds gone And this sweet world is so much older Animals pull the night around their shoulders Flowers fall to their naked knees Here I come now, here I come I hear you been out there looking for something to love.
